Globe — It was announced at the Globe City Council meeting on Monday, Oct. 21, that the city has an extended an offer to Timothy Truit to be Globe’s new police chief. Truit is a Globe High School graduate and has 20 years in law enforcement. Truit received a bachelors from Arizona State University and a masters from Northern Arizona University. Librarian Marion Steele made her case for extra parking spaces at the Globe Public Library. According to Steele, the library averages 30,000 visitors a year. Steele said that she has taken surveys at the library and 40 people said they find it difficult to find parking. “Backing out is a nightmare,” “Hard to get in and out,” “Too Narrow,” and “If there’s no room to park I keep going” were just some of the comments left on the surveys. With the help of City Engineer Matt Rencher, a series of new parking options have been created. For the complete article see the 10-23-2013 issue.
