Francisco “Frank” H. Oropeza, age 85, of Miami, Ariz., passed away peacefully on Oct. 29, 2013, surrounded by his loving family after a short illness.
Frank was born on May 5, 1928, in Parral Chihuahua, Mexico, to Roberto and Josephina Oropeza, both of whom preceded him in death, and also his two brothers, Everardo and Sergio Hernandez. He married the love of his life, Esperanza Calleros. They immigrated to the United States in 1961 with their six children; they concluded their family by later having five more children.
Francisco went to work at United Jewelry as a craftsman watch repairman, but his talent wouldn’t stop there. He later went to work for L & W body shop and McSpadden Ford. He finally found his place at Cobre Valley Motors, where he would retire in 1990. Francisco was well known and respected for his excellence and perfection as an auto body repairman and painter.
Frank was a member of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Miami, Ariz. He was a devoted Catholic and his love for the Lord was known to all who knew him. His beautiful eyes would light up and sparkle with every word he spoke of our Heavenly Father.
Francisco enjoyed camping, fishing and wood carving, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Getting together for BBQs and parties were very special to him.
He had a great love for watching and feeding the birds, and providing for the hummingbirds in his yard. His stories of his life and growing up in Mexico were very endearing to him. He always gave the ultimate respect to those he met and treated them with loving kindness.
He didn’t believe in good-byes; he would always just say “I’ll see you later.” Frank was loved by so many and will be deeply missed by his family.
Francisco leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Esperanza; children, Jose (Cathy) of Miami, David of Miami, Maria (Danny) of Claypool, Betty of Globe, Espie Swinney of Central Heights, Larry (Sherry) of Claypool, Elida (Randy) Jenkins of Gnadenhutten, Ohio, Juan of Miami, Victor (Bonnie) of Deer Valley, Margarita Murrietta of Miami, Martha Nelson of Mesa, and his little buddy Odiepeza, his brother Albaro Hernandez of Juarez, Mexico, 21 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
