Volunteers remove arson-destroyed home

Appreciative homeowner Frank Villanueva is on hand as a loader and trucks from Dalmolin Construction begin removing his fire-gutted home.

Globe — On Jan. 17, a volunteer cleanup removed a fire-damaged house from Fourth Street in Globe. A loader and two big trucks from Dalmolin Excavating began demolition and removal at 8 a.m. as Mayor Terry Wheeler watched and Fernando Shipley and others from Globe Clean and Beautiful waited for the “hand work.” Globe Public Works was also on hand.

Lerry Alderman’s announcement of a cleanup was a big relief to homeowner Frank Villanueva. He had lived there for more than 20 years and the home was almost paid off, he said. A year ago, he moved to Dudleyville near his mother-in-law. His mother was supposed to be moved into the Globe home, but she was still in San Diego with a broken wrist as her belongings were moved into the ill-fated house on New Year’s Eve.
