Miami pitching shuts down Globe after first inning

Posted: Tuesday, Mar 18th, 2014

Globe pitcher Daniel Ruiz throws to Miami left fielder Mondo Garcia. The Vandals won the game 13-3 in six innings behind the dominant pitching of Cedric Johnson.
Miami Miami did not let an early Globe lead deter them from coming back and beating the Tigers 13-3 in six innings.

The Tigers took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but the Vandals came back with a run in the bottom half of the first, two in the second and broke a 3-3 tie with two more runs in the third inning.

However, Miami broke the game wide open in the fourth, scoring five runs off five hits and four walks.

Shortstop Trevor Horta started the inning off by drawing a walk, and first baseman Shawn Barrowdale followed with an RBI triple.

Third baseman Nick Bowser, left fielder Mondo Garcia and second baseman Anthony Lee followed with RBIs of their own, giving the Vandals a 10-3 lead.
