Ellison questions merits of award given to Cobre Valley Community Transit

It was with somewhat amused incredulity that I read about the accolades heaped upon Cobre Valley Community Transit by AZTA and the Arizona Department of Transportation (Jerry Barnes’ former employer.) What is wrong with that is the fact that there are numerous complaints filed against this system, with documentation, but with no responses from ADOT.
There is a claim of 200-percent ridership increase and fancy sounding deviated fix routes. Well, this is an amazing contrast to what I was told by Mike, a driver from CVCT who told me, “No one was even riding this route — only you.”
That is, of course, before CVCT began to illegally refuse to give me rides in my wheelchair in violation of the Americans with Disability Act.
What with the lack of compliance with intergovernmental agreements with the county, violations of the law of the land, and overall management style of Mr. Jerry Barnes, I am wondering if any statistical data supplied by this outfit should be taken with a grain of salt.
