Globe — At the Globe City Council meeting on June 23, city manager Brent Billingsley gave an update on the Community Center pool.
After the city decided not to open the pool this summer, citing safety and financial concerns, it hired two independent firms, Architekton and Aqua Design International to inspect the facility, and come up with a suggested course of action for the city.
Before diving into the firms’ report, Billingsley detailed the myriad problems the pool faces.
“The wading pool leaks like a sieve and we can’t keep enough chlorine in it,” Billingsley said. “We were losing 12,000 gallons of water a day. The soil underneath the pool is not stable; the pool deck is shifting in all directions The equipment is outdated.”For the complete article see the 07-02-2014 issue.
