Charlene Q. Russell, 80
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Former Alamosa, Colo. resident, Charlene Q. Russell, 80, passed away in Mountain View, Calif.on Sun., Feb. 17, 2008.
A lifelong teacher, as well as learner, she infused all of our lives with creativity, compassion and delight. Charlene was born in Alamosa Feb. 9, 1928. She spent most of her life involved in artistic expression. As a young woman she worked as a window designer in Denver, Colo. After marrying William L. Russell they later moved with their two children, Kenton and Leslie to Mt. View in 1957.
Charlene valued her roles of wife, mother and homemaker. She was also a sculptor, working in porcelain, stoneware and bronze. She taught tailoring, and home maintenance for women through adult education and she volunteered in the Health Resource Center of El Camino Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her father David Herman Quick, mother Florence Lillian Quick, husband William Lewis Russell, sister Eunice (Quick) Abel.
She is survived by her companion, Lee Miller; son Kenton Russell; daughter Leslie (Norman) Dutra; grandchildren Lilah, Alanna and Russell; sister Helen (Edgar) Harris as well as by many other relatives, nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial services were held in Mountain View Feb. 22, 2008. Visitation in Alamosa will be held at Rogers Family Mortuary Mon., Feb. 25 from 5 until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Tue., Feb. 26 at 11 a.m. at the mortuary.
Charlene will be laid to rest next to her late husband, William L. Russell at the Alamosa Cemetery.
