Globe — Cobre Valley Center for the Arts director Kip Culver had some very encouraging news for the Globe City Council at its July 22 meeting.
Culver announced that the Center had received bids to build its long-awaited elevator on the west side of the historic building, and that the Center had enough funds to pay for the winning bid —mostly from a HUD grant, but also $18,000 from its own coffers and $35,000 from the Globe-Miami United Fund.
Culver came before the Council requesting its approval of the bid, although it was just the Council’s first time discussing the matter, so an official vote won’t happen until the Aug. 12 meeting.
“We want to keep going for another 100 years,” Culver said. “We want this elevator and the Center to be a source of pride for the City of Globe.”For the complete article see the 07-30-2014 issue.
