The Gila County Sheriff’s Department along with Action Towing Company retrieved Diane Thielbar’s car from the canyon below the Pinto Valley Bridge on Tuesday morning.

GILA COUNTY — On July 26, 2010 officers of the Gila County Sheriff's office found Harry Thielbar of Globe deceased at his residence. Thielbar had been deceased for some days. In their investigation of the incident, investigators were told by neighbors that they last saw Thielbar with his wife Diane Thielbar. Results of the autopsy showed that Mr. Thielbar has died of natural causes, but investigators were concerned with the disappearance of Mrs. Thielbar who had not been seen since late July.

Further examination of Mrs. Thielbar's bank accounts led investigators to believe she may also be deceased. The last activity for the accounts was a deposit on on Aug. 3. No withdrawals had been made after July 12. Mrs. Thielbar had also quit her previous employment at the Circle K in Claypool. Family statements led investigators to believe Mrs. Thielbar may have driven her car, an old 1989 Jeep Cherokee, off a bridge somewhere. Considering the condition of Mrs. Thielbar's car, which would not have been able to travel a long distance, Detective Johnny Holmes of the Sheriff's Office traveled to the Pinto Valley Bridge just west of Miami and located a vehicle at the bottom of the canyon. Together with DPS, the officers were able to determine that the car belonged to Thielbar. Her body was removed from the vehicle and was later positively identified.
