Braves raise state championship banner

San Carlos -- On Saturday, Nov. 26, San Carlos Secondary School celebrated the beginning of the winter sports basketball season with a ceremony to honor the 2015-16 Boys Basketball team by hanging the 2016 AIA Division V state basketball championship banner.

Lady Braves fall to defending state champs in season opener

In their first game of the season, the San Carlos Lady Braves lost 63-34 to Valley (Sanders) on Saturday afternoon. Valley won the Division V state championship last season. Pictured from left to right are Aaliyah Haozous, Kayla Dosela and Beyonce Cutter. San Carlos hosts Pima at 5:30 p.m. tonight.

Tribe, school district address truancy crisis

San Carlos -- The community of San Carlos has been hit with a crisis that has caused our people to seek out and address this issue of truancy immediately. The urgent need caused SCUSD and SCAT to create a truancy task force that involves stakeholders such as our community, our parents and students, school staff and our tribal leaders/tribal programs.

Veterans Memorial 8K Run in San Carlos

As part of the 50th annual San Carlos Veterans Fair and Rodeo, the Veterans Memorial 8K Run and 1 Mile Walk-Run was held in downtown San Carlos on Saturday morning. Local runners take part in state cross country meet

San Carlos and Alchesay High School both had runners who made the Arizona State Cross Country Meet, which was held at the Cave Creek Golf Course on Saturday, Nov. 5.
