Forest Service officials update public on Apache Leap Special Management Area Plan

Superior -- The Tonto National Forest Service held a meeting at the Superior Town Hall on Thursday, Jan. 12 to discuss the Apache Leap Special Management Area Plan. It's an area approximately 807 acres large, consisting of two land parcels: 697 acres belong to Tonto National Forest and 110 acres belong to Resolution Copper.

Willcox -- The San Carlos girls basketball team evened its record at 4-4 with a 61-34 win at Willcox on Thursday.
Nine players scored for the Lady Braves, led by Heaven Cosen with 12 points and Kayla Dosela with 11 points. Cheridan Gooday and Allison McIntosh each scored 7 points. San Carlos plays at St. Augustine on Friday, Jan. 13.

Willcox -- The San Carlos Braves improved their record to 7-1 with an 82-50 victory at Willcox on Thursday.
Al Case made 14 of 19 shots and scored a game-high 28 points, while Christian Nosie connected on five 3-pointers and finished with 15 points. John Cutter Jr. recorded 12 points and Leo Pechuli, Jr. added 11 points.

The San Carlos wrestling team competed at Miami on Dec. 28. At 106 pounds, EJ Haozous was 2-1. At 113 pounds, Raymond Sneezy was 3-0. At 132 pounds, Triston Sneezy was 3-0, and at 160 pounds Anthony May went 1-2.

I have been reading the articles in the Arizona Republic about the problems and issues with the Navajo Housing Authority. It seems these problems are common and accepted by Indian tribes. Here in San Carols, we deal with the same problems of rude housing authority employees and living in sub-standard renal units.
