Students return from archaeology training in Central America

San Carlos -- Students Edith Starr and Tori Taylor recently returned from archaeology training in Central America.
Both students experienced Mayan archaeology first hand. They traveled 2,364 miles from their home in San Carlos, Ariz. to a remote location in the beautiful rainforest of Belize. Their experience provided in-depth understanding of the various aspects involved in archaeology, mapping, survey, excavation

San Carlos teams take home silver medals at tournament in Scottsdale

We took teams from San Carlos to participate in the 2014 Lori Piestewa Native Games Basketball Tournament, which was held July 10-13 in Scottsdale, Ariz. Both teams played in the championship games and came home Silver Medal winners, bringing home runner up awards. They did great and were both undefeated in pool play, going 3-0. We'd like to say congratulations

Cibecue man convicted of second degree murder

Phoenix -- Willard John, 36, of Cibecue, Ariz., was found guilty of Second Degree Murder by a federal jury in Phoenix on July 11, 2014.
The case was tried before U.S. District Judge James A. Teilborg. The defendant, who remains in custody, is scheduled to be sentenced before Judge Teilborg on Oct. 15, 2014.
