Bracamonte honored for service to community

Globe Vice Mayor Mike Stapleton honored Bobbie Bracamonte at the April 9 Globe City Council meeting.

Bracamonte is a Reserve Firefighter and EMT with the Tri-City Fire Department.

Before presenting the certificate of appreciation to Bracamonte “on behalf of the City of Globe,” Stapleton gave the following account of Bracamonte’s service:

On March 15, the Globe Fire and Tri-City Fire Departments were dispatched to a rollover accident on Highway 70, east of the 77/70 junction.

Bracamonte was off duty when she heard the call go out. Just a couple of miles from the scene, Bracamonte responded to the call to assist in any way she could. She arrived on scene prior to Globe and Tri-City Fire.

The truck had rolled over with a father and daughter inside. The father was subsequently flown to a Valley hospital, but the daughter refused treatment.

Bracamonte took the daughter into town and paid for her breakfast, then took her to get a rental car but the local company was out of them.

She then took the daughter to Gilbert so that she could rent a car to be with her father.

Bracamonte kept in touch with the daughter that night.

While the daughter needed to retrieve her father’s personal belongings, she could not look at the truck, fearing that it might traumatize her.

Bracamonte went to the local towing company, retrieving all the father and daughter’s personal belongings, then drove to Gilbert to deliver them.

She did this without asking for any compensation from anyone or compensation for fuel.

Both the father and daughter are doing well in California, where they live.
