The Tigers boys basketball team just wrapped up the 39th edition of the Copper Cities Tournament by going 2-2.
“I really like our team this year- we don’t have the team we thought we would have had with both junior Cory and sophomore Julius Chee out for the year with knee injuries and senior Aaron Smith out until next week with a medical issue,” Coach James Simmons stated.
“We are being led by juniors and freshmen this year which will lay the foundation for next year when we get both Chee boys back and will move back up to 3A,” Simmons added.
“Our motto this year is ‘Play Hard, Play Smart, Play Together’ and I believe our players work on those things every day in practice and games. We aren’t where we want to be but will continue to strive for those things every day,” Simmons continued.
“Nick Perez, Seth Perez, Sean Kenton, Roman King, and Sam Jones all juniors and freshmen Wendsler Nosie, Vaughn Lomayaktewa, Jarren Gibson, and Brandon Shorty are all making major contributions to varsity and sometimes with a young team you have to be patient and positive,” Simmons concluded.
