Posted

The Woodbury Fire grew to 123,875 acres  and is now 90 percent contained and down to 94 personal working it.

The Central West Zone Type Three Incident Management Team made a transition to the local Type Three Incident Commander this morning. Firefighting resources will continue to staff the Woodbury Fire and patrol the containment line. This will be the final Woodbury Fire Update, unless significant fire activity occurs. For any future updates of the Woodbury fire, visit the Woodbury Inciweb

State Route 88 Closures will continue, while Tortilla Flat businesses remain open

State Route 88 is still closed starting past Tortilla Flat to State Highway 188 at Theodore Roosevelt Dam. The closure will remain until Tonto National Forest and Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) evaluate and address all public safety concerns resulting from the fire. A more definitive timeline will become available to the public once the Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) team provides the assessment report to Agency Officials. Apache Lake and Marina, Apache Campgrounds, and picnic sites will continue to be closed until SR 88 is reopened

For the purposes of public safety, the forest closure extends beyond the fire perimeter. The forest closure includes a portion of the Arizona Trail (AZT) and Hewitt Station (Forest Road 357).

The perimeter of the closure area starts at the forest boundary north of Apache Junction on SR 88 which makes the northern boundary of the closure area, east and south of SR 88 to Roosevelt Dam at State Highway 188 following forest boundary north of Highway 60. Any violation of this closure is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for individuals or $10,000 for organizations, or by imprisonment for not more than six months, or both.

Forest Service Closed Campsites: Burnt Corral, Crabtree Wash, Davis Wash, Lower Burnt Corral Shoreline Area, Three-Mile Wash, Upper Burnt Corral Shoreline Area.

This information will be relayed to Tonto National Forest and cooperating agencies when complete.  Information on the Woodbury Fire BAER team can be found at https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/6405
