George Andrew (Andy) Brunson

Andy was born in Globe, Ariz. on Feb. 3, 1941 to George and Lorene Saunders-Brunson. He was the first born, then Wilber, Jack and Dorothy rounded out the family. 

They eventually moved around the corner from Barbara Bowers and her family when she was 14 and he was 15. It was love at first sight. Andy joined the Navy and when he finished boot camp he returned to Globe and asked Barbara to marry him. She was 16. They married in Globe on Oct. 21, 1958. She finished her high school while he was overseas because she promised her dad she would.

In 1962, their son George Michael was born in Oakland, Calif. Then, in 1965, their daughter Patricia Joanne was born in Globe, Ariz. In 1966, Shari Paulina was born in Oakland, Calif.

Andy made a career in the Navy and retired in 1977. 

He moved his family to Overgaard, Ariz. to work for Bechtel Power Corp. He finished his working career in 2003 after serving as a deputy with Gila County. He took a well-deserved retirement in Globe, their hometown.

Barbara passed away in their home on Aug. 15, 2012 after a loving marriage of 54 years. He is survived by his brother-in-law Dan Bowers, in New Mexico; his three children; four grandchildren, Ryan McCoy, Traci Lynn Heath, Kyle Brunson and Kailee Brunson; three great-grandchildren, Xander Zimmerman, Xoie Zimmerman and just born March 7, 2019 is Jaxon Robert McCoy.

Services will be held on March 25, 2019 at Lamont Mortuary Chapel at 11 a.m., followed by gravesite military honors at the Globe Cemetery.
