Let’s Talk Fishin (LTF) Championship on Roosevelt Lake

On May 20 the LTF (Let’s Talk Fishin) Bass Tournament 2022-2023 season ended with a two-day championship at Roosevelt Lake. Tournament season runs from May to September with eight tournaments. This year we had 157 teams fishing the whole season, with 33 teams qualifying to fish the championship. During tournaments there is a five-fish bass limit.

For the championship, Keith and Ken Knutson out of Gilbert took 1st place, weighing in at 29.43 lbs. with a big fish of the tournament at 8.17 lbs. Second place went to Jhawn and Shawn Barrowdale of Globe with a weight of 24.69 lbs. and a big fish of 3.84 lbs. Other Globe teams: 7th place went to Jacob Reynoso and Anthony Avalos, from Globe, with a weight of 20.20 lbs. Ryan Higgins and Steve Warren came in 8th place, Chris Garcia and Lencho Carraso came in 13th place, and Freddy Valtierra and Frank Taylor came in 21st place.

On the crappie tournaments, there were three teams who qualified for the championship. In the crappie division you can weigh seven crappie and have up to four anglers in the boat. Earning top honors were the team of Art and Kasey Chamberlin, and Trent Cline, of Tonto Basin. Art has been fishing bass and crappie for 50 years, and is a legend in the crappie field. They caught five for a total of 5.90 lbs. with a big fish of 1.83 lbs.
