A group of local volunteers made their way to Peridot Mesa to pick up garbage and remove broken glass and other debris. The group was made up of youths and adults from the Schoolhouse Collaborative, in Globe. Peridot Mesa is the place of origin for the unique green gemstone mined there, and a gem of its own each spring when the gold poppy flowers bloom at peak color. Peridot Mesa lured many new visitors this spring to buy recreation permits and see San Carlos Apache lands for the first time.
