Lon Elmer Van Cleve was born to Paul and Geraldine Van Cleve. He married Cheryl on Aug. 24, 1996.

Lon worked as a machinist at Freeport-McMoRan. He built a shop at his home for doing machining for his work as well as others. He also worked on large ships and underwater jobs.

He loved spending time with family and would take them out on the lake for swimming and fishing. He would spend as much time at his brother Dan and Debbie’s as he could. He also enjoyed quite a bit of rock climbing and working on his motorcycle.

Lon and Cheryl talked often about retirement, their “Golden Years,” and all the camping, fishing, traveling and new experiences that they were excited to share together.

Lon leaves behind his wife Cheryl; his children Lynn Buckles, J.D. (Angela) Waggoner and Jerry Brooks; his brothers Dan (Debbie) Rose and Tim (Nancy) Van Cleve; his sister Paula (Scott ) Powell; his grandchildren Matt (Kayli) Ehlbeck, Rae Rae Buckles, Nathaniel (Elyse) Waggoner, Timothy Waggoner, Jerilyn Waggoner, Gracie Waggoner, Matt Stemm, Hunter Brooks and Juliet Stanford; and 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, 16 nieces and 16 nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service was held on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022 from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. at the Lamont Mortuary Chapel.
