Marda Lou Schulte

Posted

Our Heavenly Father, in his infinite love and wisdom, looked down on my wife and our mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. He saw she was declining and on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019, he took her to be with him to rest, heal, and to be with him in his glorious realm.

Marda Lou peacefully passed away at her home in Globe, Ariz.  She was born in Willcox, Ariz., the daughter of Marjorie and O.T. Smith. Marda Lou had three sisters Rilla Cunningham, Donna Marise Smith and Ricki Williams-Huggins and one brother Thomas E. Smith.

Marda Lou grew up in Globe, Ariz. and was a graduate of Globe High School. She married Chet R. Schulte and had three daughters, Kellie Boykin (Benton Boykin), Stephanie Schulte (Frank Garcia) and Toni Phillips (Greg Phillips). She is survived by her grandchildren Athena Gooding, Britney Boykin, Jacob Boykin, Jasmine Garcia, Tessa Garcia, Amber Stemm, Michael Osorio, and Dakota Phillips. She had 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Marda Lou was the Office Manager for the Water Department at the City of Globe for many years. She retired to enjoy her family after 35 years.

Her children and grandchildren can attest to the fact that she had “the patience of a saint” and rarely lost her temper with them or even raised her voice.  She was always supportive and encouraging, wise and compassionate, and was very proud of her family.  She loved working in her yard, music, taking care of her family, and having a good laugh during lunch with her friends. She helped organize her class reunions.

Throughout her life, Marda Lou volunteered for many social events. In recent years, she was a regular volunteer at the Gila Humane Society. She loved her golden retrievers and any other dog that she could rescue. She will always be remembered as a selfless member of our community who touched many lives with her love and kindness. It was not uncommon for her to drop off a bag of groceries for someone in need.

Funeral service will be Monday, Nov. 4, 2019 commencing at 2 p.m. at the Dream Manor Inn, Globe, Ariz. Interment will follow at the Globe Cemetery.

A Celebration of Her Life will be held at the Dream Manor Inn following interment. Flowers are being handled by Pinal Mountain Flowers; contributions may be sent to the Gila Humane Society.
