UPDATE: The Miami Police Department issued the following press release at 2:05 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10
The Miami Police Department would like to release the following information regarding the officer involved shooting that took place in the Town of Miami on Saturday, Jan. 5.
On the early morning of Jan. 5, Officer Richard Mueller attempted to make traffic stop that lead to an officer-involved shooting. The suspect has been identified by the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office as 29-year-old Chaz R. Barcon, out of Gilbert.
Officer Richard Mueller has been placed on administrative leave, as this is routine for any officer involved shooting.
This is still an ongoing investigation by the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.
More information may be released when it becomes available.

Miami Police Department would like to release the following information regarding an officer involved shooting on Jan. 5 at 12:13 a.m.
An officer attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle that was heading east bound on Highway 60. The vehicle failed to yield to the officer. The officer pursued the vehicle into a residential area where gun shots were fired.
Fortunately, the officer was not injured during the incident. The suspect, who has not yet been identified, was treated on scene and flown to valley hospital for treatment.
The matter is currently under investigation by an outside agency. More information will be released when it becomes available.
