The Miami Vandals picked up a thrilling 46-44 victory over Alchesay on Friday night. On a night when Miami celebrated its 2021 Homecoming, the Vandals (2-3) and Falcons (3-1) marched up and down the field and traded touchdowns all game.
Gabe Escobedo had two long touchdown runs in the fourth quarter for the Vandals, including a 60-yard dash with 29 seconds left. Escobedo finished with four rushing touchdowns as well as a passing touchdown to Abram Castaneda.
Escobedo had 177 rushing yards on 12 carries, while Jaime Pena rushed for a touchdown and 66 yards on five carries. Escobedo added 101 passing yards.
Miami opens Region play this Friday when the Vandals play at Arete Prep.
