SCOTTSDALE - Chalk up another shutout for the Miami football team after the Vandals blanked Coronado 42-0 on Friday.

This was the second consecutive shutout for Miami, which defeated Arete Prep 21-0 on Sept. 9. The win improved the Vandals’ record to 3-2; they host St. Johns on Friday. The game will be held at Globe’s Harbison Field, as Miami’s football field is being renovated.

Abram Castaneda made his first career start at quarterback and completed seven of 10 passes for 146 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. Noah Combs was the leading receiver with 65 yards and a touchdown, while Angel Pena had 45 receiving yards and Larenz Combs had 36 yards through the air.

Miami rushed for 235 yards and five touchdowns, as Jaime Pena ran for a team-high 74 yards. Jaycob Goss rushed for two touchdowns, while Castaneda, Angel Pena and Larenz Combs each had one rushing touchdown.
