The Gila County Superior Court has announced the addition of the Hon. Diana Kanon as Judge Pro Tempore effective Feb. 5, 2024. Judge Kanon attended the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law, graduating cum laude in May 2002.

She was admitted to the State Bar of Arizona in October of that year. She is also admitted to the United States District Court for the District of Arizona and the Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.

Judge Kanon was previously employed as a prosecutor in the Gila County Attorney’s Office for six years. Prior to that service, she practiced in the private sector for 15 years, contributing to six published appellate opinions. Judge Kanon also served as president of the Young Lawyers Division of the Pima County Bar Association and was formerly secretary and vice president of the Arizona Women Lawyers’ Association Southern Chapter. She is a former finalist of the Richard Grand Legal Writing Competition and while in law school served as an articles editor for the Arizona Law Review.

Judge Kanon grew up in Globe and is a 1994 graduate of Globe High School. She is honored and humbled to be the first full-time female superior court judge in Gila County.
